Damage / Accidents

18.05.1969 While driving the 22.15 London Euston to Glasgow it endured a low speed collision with the failed 21.30 London Euston to Inverness which had come to a
stand near the top of Beattock summit. In accordance with the rule book driver Brown buffered up to the rear of the failed train and pushed forward. The
Inverness train created a gap of some yards and once again stopped. Unfortunately driver Brown was unable to stop quick enough and collided with the
Inverness train at approximately 10mph. Driver Brown and the secondman R. Lunny became trapped in their cab. Sadly driver brown lost his life.
